On Saturday we joined Fr O'Connor and Fr Clements along with their parishioners as Sancta Familia Media made their first trip south of the border to England to the Holy Island of Lindisfarne.
Lindisfarne is steeped in Catholic history since established as a monastery when St Aidan left Iona to bring Christianity to the north of England. St Cuthbert too was one of the more famous saints associated with the island.
Sadly, like most of our Catholic patrimony the priory established there was destroyed during the protestant revolt amidst Henry VIII's dissolution of the monasteries. Nowadays, our Catholic faith has returned and there is a Catholic chapel on the island where Fr O'Connor and Fr Clements said Mass.
We all had a great day and the late hiccup with the bus didn't spoil what was a lovely spiritual day.
